For the past 4.5 years, I lived aboard a 40-foot trawler. In response to COVID, my partner and I sold nearly everything we owned, packed what was left into a small storage unit in Queens, loaded our car with two birds in tow, and drove to Norfolk, VA to meet our boat. It took us three months to cruise from Virginia to Florida at a whopping 7 mph. We came across incredible people along the way, experiencing the generosity of the boating community — a world unlike anything I’d known growing up in New York City from the age of 11. We eventually settled in the Florida Keys during the last two years living in a harbor where dolphins and manatees were regularly spotted. Life on a boat was far from easy, but when the beauty of the natural life aligned, it was spectacular. As much as we hoped it would be enough, it wasn’t, and so here we are, back in New York City, where my professional journey first began as a dancer. Since then, I’ve worn many hats: ballroom dance teacher, yoga instructor, photography studio manager, and personal assistant — with each chapter shaping who I am today.
